2012 Disaster Preparedness Academy

The American Red Cross Serving Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties will host the 28th annual Disaster Preparedness Academy on Oct. 10 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

The event offers 22 workshops that are tailored to meet the interests of emergency managers from large and small business to government agencies, and from education to faith-based organizations. Workshop presenters include psychologists, geologists, law enforcement officers and a variety of other emergency preparedness experts.

Keynote speakers are Fire Chief Randy Bruegman of the Anaheim Fire Department, Lt. General Russel Honore, U.S. Army (retired) and Lucy Jones, Ph.D., with the U.S. Geological Survey.Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment (START) and Basic Search and Rescue.

Additionally, a special feature on Oct. 9 is a Pre-Academy Session offering two workshops:Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment (START) and Basic Search and Rescue.
