FALL 2009
Dear Friend of the Red Cross,

I've seen amazing acts of service from some of our youngest volunteers. Last month, 5-year-old Will aided his dad's Disaster Action Team after a fire."Papa, I wanna help," he said before giving away his own toys to comfort the children & families in need.

This school year, Will joins kids across the nation to answer a call to service from the White House. In his United We Serve campaign the President calls on us all to reunite through community service. Red Cross stands ready to help you answer that call.

Service projects can be easy, fun, creative & can even help students earn scholarships. Whether you volunteer as a family, with friends, or by yourself - Red Cross volunteers make a huge impact on our community & we often get back more than we give.

As you settle into your back-to-school routine, take a minute to study the following volunteering updates & important safety tips for the year ahead. United we prepare, united we respond, united we serve--no matter how young (or young-at-heart!) we are.

Best wishes this new school year,
Linda Jorge Carbone
