October 2009

Dear Friend of the Red Cross,

In the wake of the California wildfires we responded to a stream of disasters across the globe:

Sept. 20th: Floods in Atlanta; Sept. 26th: Typhoon Ketsana in the Philippines & Vietnam; Sept. 28th: Tsunami in American Samoa; Sept. 30th & Oct. 1st: Two earthquakes in Indonesia.

When American Red Cross sent aid to sister Red Cross societies this month it reminded me with pride of the type of organization we serve. What makes us unique is that the Red Cross volunteers who save the lives of our neighbors down the street are the same volunteers flying halfway across the world to give aid to our neighbors abroad.

Whether you're in Charlotte, Manatee, Tampa, Southwest Florida, Samoa, or Indonesia--thank you for serving & preparing together as One Red Cross.

Thank you for all you do,
Linda Jorge Carbone
