Maybe it was January in Minneapolis. Or the long awaited moment to bring the youth workers professional development into focus. But we have to admit that this year’s Volunteer Administration Institute helped us build momentum and granted us with an opportunity to open a productive dialogue on your career and professional development.
We met; networked, generated some buzz...but the reasonable question to ask is what lays next on your professional development agenda?
Upon your return home to your daily assignments, challenging initiatives and the omnipresent responsibility to act as role models and create new meaningful experiences for your youth volunteers, the daily routine’s temptation is high and hard to avoid.
Being a long time staffer or someone who just started as youth coordinator or advisor won’t make much of a difference. It is our personal responsibility to get connected with the recent trends on youth volunteering, develop new competencies, gain new skills sets and make our work place more rewarding and meaningful.

In the upcoming issues we’ll invite you on a journey that will help you gain more insight on your professional development needs, how to enhance your professional development at work and much more.
