Turning 45....and Running

I can't believe it.  I never thought I'd actually run a marathon.  But this coming April, I will be lacing up and taking my best shot at running--and finishing--the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013.

Since high school, I've been running competitively in shorter-distance races, but have always shied away from running marathon-length distances.  Why?  Frankly, it's always intimidated me. 26.2 miles is really, really far!

Turning 45 in 2013 has me reflecting on the things I've yet to do.  And one of those "undone" things is running a marathon-length race.  What better way to remedy this than running the 117th Boston Marathon in support of the organization I revere most, the American Red Cross?

As a runner for Team Red Cross, I am helping to save lives and secure families across eastern Massachusetts. Red Cross responds to disasters large and small by sheltering, feeding and helping vicims to rebuilt their lives.  In Massachusetts, it runs the largest food pantry in New England --feeding over 115,000 families a year--as well as international refugee and activie duty military service programs.   I have pledged to raise a minimum of $4,000 to benefit the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts.

Please help me achieve this life goal by supporting the Red Cross with a contribution. Follow my progress throughout the training season and check out the latest news regarding Team Red Cross.

Thank you for your support!
