Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am proud to be running the 117th B.A.A. Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013 as a member of Team Red Cross in support of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts! This will be my first marathon and I'm very excited to take on this physical challenge and raise funds for such a wonderful organization.
Personally I have been involved in the Red Cross thorough donating blood multiple times. A single blood donation can help save the lives of up to three people and in the U.S. someone is in need of blood about every 2 seconds. In the hospital where I work 100% of our blood needed for critical patients is supplied by the Red Cross.
I currently work as a Registered Nurse at Quincy Medical Center and I can attribute my first step into the nursing field to the Red Cross. Through the Red Cross I became a Certified Nursing Assistant and I learned how to provide compassionate, respectful care for those in need. I used those skills to work while in nursing school and now that I am a RN I still value those essential skills that the Red Cross taught me.
As a runner for Team Red Cross, I am helping to save lives and change lives across the eastern Massachusetts region. The Red Cross mission inspires and motivates me to train even harder to achieve my marathon goals.
Please join me in supporting the Red Cross with a contribution toward my fundraising goal to benefit this amazing organization. I have pledged to raise a minimum of $4,000 to benefit the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts.
The American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts is one of the largest Red Cross chapters in the nation, serving 181 communities with a population of five million residents. Each year, more than 2,500 Red Cross volunteers, along with Red Cross staff, provide critical programs and services to nearly 690,000 people in need across the region, including: Disaster and Emergency Response; Health and Safety Training; Food and Nutrition Programs; Health Care Job Training, Services to Armed Forces, Youth Programs and more!
Follow my progress throughout the training season and check out the latest news regarding Team Red Cross.
Every little bit helps and is very much appreciated! Here are a few suggestions for contributing...
$10.00 = a special high five along the course
$26.20 = $1 for every mile to the finish line
$42.16 = $1 for every kilometer to the finish line
$80.00 = $20 for every month of training
Thank you for your support!

Big day tomorrow!
I am truly amazed by the generosity of my family and friends, through your outstanding donations I have passed my fundraising goal (cash or check donations made without an email address are not noted on this site). Tomorrow is the big day and I will be thinking of all of you as I pass through those 26.2 miles. I know my body is ready but the mental part of it all will be fueled by thinking of your support and the American Red Cross.
If you would like updates when I cross the 10k, 1/2 marathon, 20k, and finish line marks, text 21469 to 345678
Thank you all so much!

Getting Close!
Tomorrow will mark the 1 month count down till the marathon and I'm feeling pretty excited! Part of that excitement is that tomorrow I will also be hosting a fundraiser night at one of my favorite hometown spots, Jo's Nautical Bar. Family and friends have been very supportive with gathering items to raffle and offering their time, I could feel more thankful for them.
If you are interested in attending please swing by! We will kick things off at 7pm and the suggested donation is $20. There will be plenty of fun raffles, light bites, and a DJ to keep the night festive. See you there!

1st official week of training!
Well it's officially started! Was able to meet a few teammates this week and felt really inspired by learning more about all the excellent work that the Red Cross does!
The last few years I have stuck to the gym when the temperature takes a dive and I had forgotten how refreshing running in the cold can be! There is a whole other side of beauty in the world when the trees are bare and you can peek a little further into the woods.
